Yes. You see it with your two (or four) eyes. Tim McCarver used to play for the Red Sox. I found this post on a Red Sox community in LiveJournal. He played with Boston for 23 games between 1974 - 1975 with the card being shown from 1975.
For the love of God, it explains why he hates us so much and LOVES the Yankees (Derek Jeter) so much. Someone want to question him about this if they ever have the God forbid job to work on FOX Sports with him, go right ahead.

I know that it's a DARK Secret, but I've known of it for years:
Buck: "Tim, why don't you tell us about the Toronto Blue Jays Schedule on WSBK TV38";
Mc Carver(Or as we razz him in Red Sox Nation-NYC as Mc Cavah): "Derek Jeter appears about 9 times";
Buck: "Well Folks? You can turn your TV Sets off & go do something else. Good Lord";
Actually, in defence of James Timothy Mc Carver, a Graduate of an Irish Christian Brothers School in Memphis, TE, he's actually a Much-Better PLAY-BY-PLAY Commentator than Joe Buck is. I've heard him in that mode. Play By Play & spinning a good baseball story takes talent & FOX is MISUSING his talent;
FOX(News Corporation) is MISUSING his talent. News Corporation, though the NY Post, also overtly sings both the Yankees & the Derek Jeter Tune, way too-frequently;
Since I'm a LIFELONG New Yorker & Yankees Despiser, I'm tired of the drivel;
The 1 Inning of Play By Play, was a treat to behold. I even shed a tear. It was how I grew up to loving the Game. It was, what we Traditional Catholics call our Mass, in the Proper Language of Latin-a masterpiece for the ages;
It was Mets-Dodgers, from Shea Stadium-Queens, where we watched this from. The Red Sox were on FOX, so many of us dreaded having to hear Tim. IT was a RARE Treat, indeed.

Krystle? NYC had Kenny Albert with Tim, while in New England, you had Dick Stockton & Company. Baseball HOF er, Ralph Kiner was Tim's colleague in the Mets TV Booth, from '83 until '98. For 1 full inning I heard engaging conversation & outstanding play by play calling. This, on FOX, where I thought that was IMPOSSIBLE.
Michael - I did hear at one time that he used to be an awesome announcer, that I'll give you. Sorry, it's been a long day...SATs all day...

I blame McCarver's bumbling idiocy on having to sit next to Joe Buck one too many times. Just wait -- Troy Aikman is the next victim. It's already starting. Which is too bad, because Aikman is (was?) actually a decent football commentator.

Example is 2005. This is from The Season Premiere of "MLB On FOX", NY Yankees @ NY Mets;
A relief pitcher name Dae Sung Koo, who never swung a bat in a Major League Game, was facing Randy Johnson;
Mc Carver: "In my mind, In this young season, this is the biggest give-up at bat;
Koo Swings & Smacks one. Buck, full of piss & vinegar, sounds like this;
Buck: "Ohhhhhh & rips one into Right Centerfield. Take your words back, up against the wall & Koo, is going to think about a triple & holds with a double";
Mc Carver: "You led me into it. I didn't say a thing";
WHAT?
People have jumped all over Tim Mc Carver, but people forget that Buck, who isn't half as good as his father was, is really showing himself up to be a blowhard & annoys me to NO END;
@ a Well-Known Boston Red Sox Bar in Manhattan's East Village, the only BOOING occurred whenever Buck & Mc Carver, appeared on screen. Frankly, I think that Buck is the One, who REALLY deserves those Boos, Himself, that Sarcastic Arsecap.
I have to say that Buck in an ahole and McCarver isn't the smartest branch in the tree. I think in some ways it both clashes.
I can't stand Buck and McCarver (duh!) Buck is the same person NO matter who is with him. McCarver is more to have his moments with McCarver because Buck is there. Whenever it's anyone else, they don't say anything like "wtf? any point to do?"
