Johnny Damon Being Johnny Damon

Another "Johnny Damon is an idiot" article. It was last Tuesday, why don't I find things on that day? Anyway's, let's read Damon's Idiot Act.

Clearly, the New York Yankees, who won four championships from 1996 to 2000 with Torre managing a stable of thoroughbreds bred and bought with Steinbrenner’s millions, are a team in transition.

But Yankees outfielder Johnny Damon doesn’t see it that way — even now that the team opted to stay with a talented corps of young pitchers rather than trade away prized prospects and spend $150 million to get two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana, who ended up with the cross-town Mets.

“I see it as we’re giving some young pitchers an opportunity, some pitchers the league doesn’t know too much about,” Damon was saying last weekend, when he visited the Treasure Coast to participate in the M.E.’s Team two-day fundraiser organized by Martin County native and former Yankees teammate Scott Proctor.

“Obviously, we’re not going to go out and change our offense and defense, because we still believe we are the best all-around team, as far as that’s concerned. First base could be an issue, because we have about four or five different guys playing there. But, all around, I think we’re very solid.

“And,” he added, “I think these young pitchers could bring in a different attitude for us.”

Uh, Johnny. I'm going to break this news to you SO hard. I think you guys needed Johan more than the Mets/Red Sox did. You needed to change everything, but who is a Red Sox fan to complain. You have good pitching and that's all. You just have names = money guys. Sure Jeter and A-Rod are great that's not your future pitching...

“I’ve been around the game for a long time,” said Damon, who has played for four teams in 13 major league seasons. “I’ve had, let’s see, how many different managers?”
He began counting.

“One, two three . . . four, five . . . six different managers,” he said. “No, seven now, with Joe Girardi.

“In this game, there’s change. Things happen. But change is good. I couldn’t imagine myself playing in one place for the 14 years I’ve been playing. Hopefully, L.A. is perfect for Joe.”

LA is going to be perfect for Joe because he doesn't have to deal with idiots like you. Sorry, I couldn't help it. The next set of comments make my face a little red.

Damon was equally unemotional about his move from Boston to New York in 2006, after helping the Red Sox win their first World Series in 86 years — even though he changed sides in the fiercest rivalry in American sports.
Even though the Red Sox won another World Series last season.

Without him.

“When I left Boston, they kind of had a feeling they weren’t going to sign me, and they ended up being the third-best team in the American League East because of it,” said Damon, who signed with the Yankees as a free agent. “Then last year, they ended up spending $200 million.

“They went off and got a guy in Daisuke (Matsuzaka), who’s probably the No. 1 pitcher on 15 other teams. They got a shortstop (Julio Lugo) that not too many people knew a lot about but is a very good player. They added J.D. Drew, who didn’t show up until the postseason. They got a kid who probably should’ve been the heir-apparent to me, Jacoby Ellsbury, who came on strong.

“They’re not a better team without me. I know that. But that’s how baseball goes. One guy leaves, sometimes teams get better because they get to add a few more players.”

Dear Johnny Damon. The term "shut the hell up" comes up right about hmmm, the last paragraph of that? To say the least, no wait the first paragraph. Sure we weren't the best team but it's not because of you leaving. It was because in the long run injuries play a big role. You should know. I think Jacoby is a little better than you because he's younger and just well...Jacoby.

They're not better without you? Can we NAME the stuff they've done when you left?

World Series 2007 Champs
Jacoby Ellsbury
Mike Lowell
No idiots in the clubhouse that make you want to scream
Dustin Pedrioa
Best Defense

Yeah that's just some of the stuff we have without you. The Yankees?

2 Division Series failures. 'nuff said! Oh and did I mention there's more? Well theres more...

As for the rivalry . . .

“The media makes it really intense, then the fans do, then it gets to the players,” Damon said, later adding, “I never really got the rivalry until . . . well . . . I still don’t, because I grew up here in Florida and my big rivalries were about Florida and Florida State.”

Besides, he said, “If we go 0-19 against Boston, hopefully we’re 15-4 against Tampa or 18-1 against Baltimore, as long as we get to the playoffs.”

And get back to the Series?

“We were 14 games down at one time, and I still thought we were good enough to win last year,” Damon said. “We knew when we left camp that we didn’t leave with our best team. Once guys got healthy and in better shape, the season turned around.

“But getting knocked out in the first round, it can be tough.”

Especially for a team that’s expected to win championships — a team that now appears to be in transition.

Denial and jealously suck so bad don't they? It's obvious that he doesn't believe in the rilvarly because he wouldn't have signed with the Yankees right? Oh that's probably a lie. If we got 19 - 0 against the Yankees. The laughing I would do would be too much to handle. Losing 19 games against one team isn't going to look good when you play them in the playoffs, you stupid twit. Good luck trying to get the denial and jealously out. I heard that Trot did a good job of it...Ass.

Getting out of the "idiot with half a brain" news. Truck day was yesterday and a few bloggers (Cyn and Kelly) made the news! How COOL is that?

Well I have to head out for the day, Have a good day everyone!

Ya know...I had a LOT of respect for the guy in '04, but just about every shred of it just left. He's seriously WAY overhyping his place in the history of the game, and has a higher opinion of himself then I thin is warranted.

Wayne - same here buddy, same here. if he said any of this to my face, the chances of me hurting him would have been TOO high for his own good.
